    • AC issue at 55K miles on my Odyssey

By Pat on Friday, June 28, 2019

      3.0
I purchased 2016 Honda Odyssey (in Aug 2016) and drove it for 2 Years 10 Months (as of June 2019). It had 55K miles on it and AC started blowing hot air. Took it to the Honda dealership and he said the AC Compressor and Dryer needs to be replaced which cost me $1500. While such repairs are usually covered under 3Year/36K miles, my Odyssey exceeded the mileage. This makes me think that Honda's reliability totally depends on luck, Not every honda gives your piece of mind and lower maintenance costs!
    • Simply The Best Made Mini-Van You Can Get

This van is a dream to own. Runs great. It's basically the same as an Accord but a bigger body. Amazing build quality in the USA! Repairs are minimal and VERY INEXPENSIVE compared to cars of inferior quality. This is by far BETTER DESIGNED AND BUILT, than ANY BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. Honda RULES the sedan world with the Accord AND the Mini-Van world with Odyssey. If buying a used Odyssey INSIST on a CarFax. Be sure timing belt was changed around 100K miles. ($1500 job)
    • Not as reliable as advertised

Bought this car off lease with 35,000 miles on it 4 years ago. Now has 95,000 miles and has just had to have engine rebuilt due to issues caused by variable cylinder management (VCM). At least the cost was fully covered by Honda. Rear hatch switch no longer works in cold weather, another well known problem. Requires a new tailgate switch ($400 if you can find one). Side door remote open no longer works. This is the second Odyssey we have owned and will definitely be the last. First one had issues as well with transmission going at 105K. Not sure how these vehicles get ranked so high on reliability as the two we have owned would say otherwise.
